The Life of a Sentient Search Engine

Libraries, Reference, Gaming, and pretty much anything else that strikes my fancy…

About this Blog

The Life of a Sentient Search Engine is a place for me to ramble on about the things I like: computers, technology, video games, books, and reference service.

Reference Service??! If you pay attention to the general media, you’ve probably been left with the idea that Reference service is playing “a diminished role” in libraries today. After all, everything’s “on” Google right? If you pay attention to stereotypes, then you probably figure that librarians are gray-haired old ladies with pencils stuck in their bun.

If you cherish these notions, then you’re in the wrong place, because you have found the blog of a 23-year-old male librarian (gasp) who likes to play video games (oh horror) and thinks reference rocks (uh huh…right…). If you are able to let go of preconceptions, stick around, you may actually learn something…
