I read a great post on LISNews. Its a toughtful “discussion” of the future of libraries and librarianship. Take a look, as it makes for interesting reading. I’m especially impressed by the diversity of positive views of the future.

The Life of a Sentient Search Engine is a place for me to ramble on about the things I like: computers, technology, video games, books, and libraries.

Libraries??! If you pay attention to the general media, you’ve probably been left with the idea that Libraries are playing “a diminished role” these days. After all, everything’s “on” Google right? If you pay attention to stereotypes, then you probably figure that librarians are gray-haired old ladies with pencils stuck in their bun.

If you cherish these notions, then you’re in the wrong place, because you have found the blog of a 23-year-old male librarian (gasp) who likes to play video games (oh horror) and thinks reference rocks (uh huh…right…). If you are able to let go of preconceptions, stick around, you may actually learn something…
